Trading Journaling and Review

A trading journal records the decision, context and process behind a trade so that repeated strengths and mistakes become easier to identify.

In one lineA useful trading journal records why you made the decision, not only whether the trade won or lost.

A good journal records the decision process, not only whether the trade won or lost.

Record the context

Note the market condition, setup, entry logic, stop, planned dollar risk and what information mattered.

Review the process separately from the outcome

A good decision can lose. A bad decision can win. If the journal only records profit and loss, those two situations look the same.

Simple review

What did I see?
What did I do?
Did I follow the plan?
What should I repeat or change?
