FOMO, Revenge Trading and Overtrading

FOMO, revenge trading and overtrading are different expressions of the same problem: emotion taking control of the trading process.

In one lineEmotional trading usually means the decision is being made to relieve a feeling, not because the setup improved.

Emotional urgency often arrives after the best decision window has passed.

FOMO

You see price moving without you and enter late because you are afraid of missing more movement.

Revenge trading

You take another trade quickly after a loss because you want to recover the money immediately.

Overtrading

You keep taking marginal setups because being inactive feels uncomfortable.

Useful pause:If the reason for taking the trade is mainly emotional urgency, step away and reassess the plan.
Remember this

  • Missing a trade is not a loss.
  • A previous loss does not improve the next setup.
  • More trades do not automatically create more opportunity.
